35 for 35: The year so far- 3/4 of the way down!

Hectic as, crazy as, up and down like a roller coaster but definitely a better year.

Have actually not had any time to update my shenanigans so a really quick summary so far of my 35 for 35 project.

January 2013

  • First time in the middle east!: Spent my birthday in the air, with a special birthday cake and dessert courtesy of Emirates--wait those are firsts as well.
  •  So that brings us to 4- First super luxury hotel , Le Meridien Dubai and then my 5th new experience: first time in the desert.
  • Easily rolling into my next first which is a 4 wheel drive adventure surfing the sand dunes on a jeep!.

Wow, so far that's 6 new experiences in the span of 18 hours on my birthday.

The next day it's off to Europe, not a first but it's my First time in Switzerland!. Picked up and off to Chamonix- to do an expedition med course where it's definitely a First practising rescues in the cold. It's also yet another first learning how to ski!.

So far , so rock and roll with 9 out of 35 sorted.

Before, i forget- started off 2013 in Broome. A First that i am really proud about is learning how to track turtles and volunteering for Conservation Volunteers Australia is something that i've wanted to do for ages. That makes 10 out of 35.

Okay, still in Chamonix- i meet someone i consider the coolest being ever- Dr Tom Hart, penguinologist, gentleman and all round Super Nice guy. Dude has superior cold tolerance having just jetted in from fricking Antartica!. I am not worthy- Tom Hart = the legend

That was definitely THE highlight of my Chamonix Expedition Med Course. And...number 11 out of 35 for 35 new things at 35 years old.

Hmm, not bad for January eh?. Wait until February's update....

35 for 35: Black Milk virgin

After many years of lusting after Black Milk's superb Star Wars collection, i've given in to Black Milk!.

Their Hogwarts collection is super cool for fellow Hogwarts fans. The best way to go about shopping, i reckon, is to think: how often would i wear these?. The pieces i selected fall under : "Will wear it every day until it falls off- category".

35 for 35: First best-dressed & raffle win at Malaysia Night 2013

2013 has flown by like a Peregrine falcon on speed.
9 months ago i was planning my 35 for 35 project. Time has flown by so fast, i've not even had time to go online and update blogger at all. Instead, life has been lived fully!.

Yesterday was a good example. Despite the torrential rain; which is a rarety in Perth, i attended a Cancer Council update in  Women's Health in Wembley. Hurried home, crashed to relieve my massive information overload headache and before you know it, it was time to head to Malaysia Night.

Malaysia Night is to commemorate the formation of Malaysia - Sept 16 1963. We are 50 years old this year and 56 years since independence. It was AMWA- The Association of Malaysians in WA, inaugural Malaysia Night.

Cookie Monster, Nurse J, her mate Wati and i were very pleased with the night. Very well organized compared to the Indonesia Night we had attended earlier in the year. Dinner started off with entrees at the table: Satay with all the condiments and massive pappadums, followed by a Halal buffet dinner and nyonya style desserts. We were spoilt for choice.
On the menu was authentic sambal belacan, noodles, ayam percik, rendang, veggies and ikan rempah. Endless nescafe and masala tea as well at the end of the meal!.

I was pulled up by one of the organizers, along with 10 other ladies, out of the audience. We were a bit perplexed. Were they going to make us dance?. Instead, it turned out to be a good first for me: Winning best dressed!.

After a lot of dancing (by the crowd) to music by Royston Sta Maria and his band, what Cookie Monster and i were waiting for finally materialized...the lucky draw. We had nearly given up and passed out asleep when one of our tickets was called-303!. It was amazing. We won 300 dollars in cash just like that. Definitely one of our best nights out.

AMWA have Bollywood Nights coming up in October for Deepavali. Tickets cost only $50 dollars including all meals, performances and door prize. Considering we paid $60 each but won prizes worth more than 300 dollars, a steal!.
